The tight end position is integral to the success of the west coast offense.
That must be why the Eagles seem to set on stocking up at that position. Currently they have four tight ends on the roster and the recently added Kris Wilson and third stringer Matt Schobel seem to be headed for a battle to make the roster.
L.J. Smith was franchised and Brent Celek is in his second year. Smith should be healthy this year while Celek is expected to be more productive than he was during his rookie season.
Despite that the Eagles had Jermichael Finley of Texas in for a workout yesterday. If the Birds were to draft him, it would signal to me that they are planning on letting Smith walk after the season.
There's no way they're going to keep all those tight ends.
