I don't know how you can look at the Eagles first day and not think they're looking to the future.
There was nothing on the board at the number 19 pick which could have helped them this year. Please you can't be serious.
I don't think you can look me in the fact and tell me that Rashard Mendenhall of Illinois doesn't give you another quality running back who is an upgrade over the other backs backing up Brian Westbrook.
Even with the pick up of Lorenzo Booker, the Eagles season is over if Westbrook goes down.
That pick they get next year from the Carolina Panthers could be a very good pick but that player probably won't be contributing until 2010. We haven't even played the 2008 season as of yet.
Mark Eckel of NJ.com agrees with me about the fact that this first day of the draft is focused on the future more than the present.
