I think the personality of Trevor Laws is going to be a good fit for the Birds.
He's emotional and fiery which is a good change up from Mike Patterson and Brodrick Bunkley who are extremely quiet at the defensive tackle spot. Of course he must be able to play and compete on this level but it's going a good mix to have a different type of personality.
Rich Hofmann captures some of his sense of humor in his article today on Philly.com. The dude has the dreadlocks with the personality to match. It seems like he doesn't take himself too seriously. This is some of that Minnesota and West Coast attitude.
You can see Laws is not the kind of kid who is going to be home worrying about everything that said about him on the radio or in the paper. You have to have some of that to be comfortable here in Philly.
It's good that a football team has a mix of personalities like that. The Eagles have nothing but fairly solid guys on their football team but they need a little more of the guy who is loud and boisterous.
Players like Laws don't mind talking to the media because they don't take the whole thing too seriously. Laws said he didn't let all the criticism of Notre Dame's poor record last year get to him. He just stopped paying attention to what was being said about them.
The guy doesn't have to be a troublemaker off the field but you need somebody to stir things up. I get the feeling Laws will be that guy for the Birds. I think he's going to be loud on the field.
