I was surprised that Eagles got into their exotic formations
so early yesterday. I know it's the new stuff and it's what they need to make sure everybody is familiar with, but it seemed that they were showcasing these plays for their quarterback.
They had Brian Westbrook and Lorenzo Booker in the formations and lined up all over the place. They wanted to show him some of the things they're going to be able to do when they get into the season this year.
I think Reid prefers to play this chess game with defensive coordinators where tries to get the matchups he wants by changing the personnel. I think he would rather have this type of offense as compared to the one with Terrell Owens, where you just throw the ball to Owens and give the ball to Westbrook.
For example, I think he would prefer a basketball offense like the Detroit Pistons with five scorers and no Superstar as compared to a Kobe Bryant or Lebron James offense which is dominated by one unstoppable player.
You see that McNabb refused to throw Reid or Mornhinweg a bone in the news conference by saying that he didn't think the team was any faster.
