McNabb Must Guard Against Overworking

The tendinitus in his shoulder and the sports hernia are injuries which occur from overworking.

Donovan McNabb suffered a sports hernia in the past and he's now battling shoulder tendinitus.

I'll guarantee you that overworking was what McNabb has been doing out in Arizona.  He's been throwing too much.  McNabb is a worker and will always be a tireless worker but you can't overdo it..

Andy Reid cleared up the situation after practice by saying, "Donovan has slight tendinitis in his shoulder, very similar to what he had in 2004, he doesn’t need surgery. He’ll get treatment for two weeks and be ready to go. … It’s not a big deal.”

I wasn't surprised last year when L.J. Smith had a sports hernia because the guys were telling me he was doing lifting workouts two in a day which were supposed to spaced out with days in between to recuperate.  You've got to have some wisdom with your workouts.

Smith wanted badly to have a big year for the Birds a year ago, but he overworked himself and wound up suffering through an injury-plagued year.  McNabb doesn't want to do the same thing, so he needs to back off his workouts and tell that new trainer to hit the road.

I also think McNabb needs to make sure he doesn't do too much lifting because the lifting can make your arm too tight.  The muscles need to be loose to throw the ball as much as he has to do.

Like Smith, McNabb is eager to have a big year.  At times this mottivation overruns the banks and he worksout too much.  I would like to see him stay on the cardio work during the season because he has put on weight at times during the season.

This will probably wind up being a good things that he has to shut it down for a while.
