Well, the media seems to have another reason to throw Donovan McNabb’s name out in the news.
TMZ.com is reporting that Maryann Cottrell, whose daughter is severely disabled, is suing the Landmark Americana Tap and Grill for violating the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The lawsuit says, “One notorious incident involves Philadelphia Eagles football players Donovan McNabb and Jevon Kearse using reserved spaces at Defendant’s business premises.”
In 2006, McNabb was fined by a judge for parking in the Landmark’s handicapped space, although he wasn’t the one driving. Jeremiah Trotter is also mentioned as someone that was allowed to park in those reserved spots.
This is really a non-story, but will probably be blown up to make it seem like McNabb is Allen Iverson-esque in his propensity to park in illegal spaces. Why do I seriously doubt that’s the case?
As I hear it, the players were told by the establishment that it was ok to park there. In which case, yes, that’s wrong. But ease up on the players here, the Landmark shouldn’t be telling anyone to do that, and that’s why they are facing this lawsuit.
This is the kind of story that comes out at a terrible time for McNabb, because right now there is absolutely nothing else in football to talk about. Hopefully, no one will blow this out of proportion.
