Donovan McNabb has gotten a break this training camp because of Westbrook's contract, Andrews' holdout and Sheppard's contract.
If these news making situations weren't occuring you would be reading and hearing silly stories about what McNabb is thinking, as if anybody in the media could read his mind.
Understand that the monster has to be fed. All the forms of media have to put something out on a daily basis to make that money.
It's like the 24 hour cable stations, they have to feed the monster on a daily basis. That's why when there's no legitimate news, they have to do 24 hours straight on nonsense like Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan.
At times Philadelphia sports becomes Britney Spears. McNabb hasn't done anything different this year than he did last year. if you listen to his news conferences, many times he double talks because he doesn't want to say anything to get people going but you can't avoid people making a big deal of of nonsense.
For instance he's a piece of McNabb's last news conference. He's asked about Shawn Andrews' absence.
On whether he is confident that Andrews will be back:
“Shawn will be back. I’m sure of that. When he comes back, it will kind of be like he’s been here.”
On whether he has spoken to Andrews:
“I haven’t spoken to him personally. We have just kind of played phone tag, but he assured me that things will be fine and that he will be back.”
If it weren't for the Westbrook, Andrews and Sheppard situations you would be witnessing a total examination of what McNabb said. How does he know that Andrews will return fine if he hasn't talked to him? This would be another fake controversy but they don't need it right now.
Here's another fake controversy that we missed. McNabb was asked about the offensive weapons.
On whether he feels he has enough weapons on offense:
“You never have enough weapons. Our guys are doing well and the good thing for us is that we get a good opportunity, with being healthy, to be at that full game-speed tempo and playing against our defense with the blitzes and them sitting back and playing man has really helped our timing and chemistry.
It's amazing that we've gone this long without somebody asking McNabb how he feels about himself, Kevin Kolb, the city and Andy Reid.
If things get slow get ready for all the nonsense to start again.
