Vick to plead guilty to dogfighting

Michael Vick still isn't done with the court system.

In an effort to get an early release from federal prison, Michael Vick plans to plead guilty to local dogfighting charges in Surry County, VA.

Scheduled to be released on July 20th, 2009 following his 23-month sentence, Vick will actually be eligible for a halfway house in January 20th if he resolves the pending local charges.  Supposedly, pleading guilty to these charges will not get him any more jail time.  If someone can explain that to me, I'd love to know.

Gerald Poindexter is the same shady prosecutor that was unable to secure a dog-killing indictment against Vick in 2007 after he already admitted to the Feds that he killed dogs.  So yeah, this guy isn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Vick is scheduled to enter his plea on October 30th.

Tell us in the comments:  Should someone that fought and killed dogs (and ran a gambling operation.  Let's not forget that fact and what the NFL thinks of it) be allowed to play in the NFL again?  If you are an owner, would you take a chance on Vick and take on the public relations nightmare that would surely follow?
