Former Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter was on the morning show on 610-WIP ripping into Donovan McNabb.
Surprisingly, Trotter said he thinks McNabb wants to play elsewhere. He said the feels the Eagles QB doesn’t like playing in Philadelphia and that he’s looking for a way to get out of town.
This was an echo of what Deion Sanders has been saying.
Despite these claims, McNabb has made it clear that he wants to finish his career in Philadelphia.
It was no surprise that Trotter was critical of the way McNabb indirectly blamed the defense for losing the NFC Championship game. He said McNabb wasn't carrying himself as a leader.
(I remember an interview I conducted with Trotter in 2005. Jeremiah said McNabb should get over the crticism he was receiving from Terrell Owens. He said he didn't think it was a big deal.)
Trot went on to say that he didn't think McNabb's comments before the Super Bowl will affect what they Eagles will do in their negotiations with McNabb.
Trotter doesn't believe the Eagles should resign McNabb, he thinks they should trade him and start over.
Personally, I don’t think McNabb wants to leave Philadelphia. He’s acting like somebody who wants their spouse to appreciate them more, so they complain about it and moan as a way of trying to get what they want.
McNabb is just like many people who complain about their job but they have no intention of leaving it.
McNabb knows what he has here playing for Andy Reid and the Eagles, but he has no idea what he would be heading into if he were to play somewhere else.
