John Clayton, who is a NFL reporter for ESPN was just on ESPN 950 radio talking to Jody McDonald about the kind of deal the Eagles need to workout with Donovan McNabb
Clayton said the Birds should guarantee McNabb $20 to $30 million dollars of a four, five or six year deal. He said the Birds will want to make sure that there won't be any salary cap repercussions from McNabb not playing out the final three or four years of the deal.
He said the Eagles would be wise to get the deal done as soon as possible because the upcoming contracts of Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers could push up the numbers.
Clayton also said that the Birds have plenty of salary cap room to do the deal and that the contract will open up more room for the Birds to chase free agent talent.
I got a buddy of mine who thinks Clayton looks like Stewie Griffin of Family Guy. This is not a compliment.
