Haynesworth Will Mean Trouble

Put a two in the loss column for the Eagles before we even look closely at the team’s 2009 schedule, if the Redskins sign Tennessee free agent Albert Haynesworth.

If the Skins do indeed sign the monster defensive tackle, like Lance Zierlein of the Houston Chronicle said an NFL league source told him, the Birds won’t be able to do much offensively in two weeks of the season.

We already know that the Eagles wide receivers can’t get open against the Skins secondary because they get up in the Bird’s faces and refuse to let them get off the line of scrimmage.

As much as we like Eagles wide receivers, DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis, they’re both very small and vulnerable to physical cornerbacks jamming them at the line of scrimmage and delaying their release.

If you insert Haynesworth somewhere along the line of scrimmage it means Donovan McNabb is not going to have very much time to get rid of the football.

It will also mean that the Birds will have no success running the football, so expect a ten point or less output by the team’s offense in the games against Washington.

This is why McNabb and many Eagles fans are frustrated with the Birds front office, which consistently fails to supply him with the type of weapons, which other franchise quarterbacks go to battle with.

After all, the Eagles know that everybody will blame McNabb for all the losses whether we have enough talent to win or not.

Incidentally, there’s no guarantee that Haynesworth will be a Redskin, his agent Chad Speck e-mailed the following response after inquiries about the original story,

“Albert is not allowed to have a deal with another team, and he doesn’t have a deal with another team,” Speck e-mailed Tuesday night. “We continue to keep the lines of communication open with Tennessee. The rumors suggesting that a deal is in place between Albert and the Washington Redskins are completely false.”

He could very well be lying through his teeth.
