Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger has reported that Derrick Ward made a proposal to the Giants of a multi year deal for $3 million per year.
New York turned him down but that doesn't mean the Eagles should turn him down. He would be an upgrade over Correll Buckhalter.
Three million dollars a year is no money for a contributing running back nowadays.
He would be a great addition to the Eagles, if they're really talking about making a run this season. Ward could step in and immediately take a lot of the load off of Westbrook.
Both of them would be fresh when the playoffs got here, so the team would go into the playoffs with a running game. From day one, Ward would be ready to contribute.
Plus, he would be biting at the bit to get the chance to show the Giants that they made a mistake.
For $3 million dollars a year he would be a bargain. The guy has good speed and is 230 pounds. He can run inside, outside, pick up the blitz and catch the ball out of the backfield.
It seems the Eagles are chasing another Salary Cap Championship trophy.
Who are they stockpiling all of this money for?
It's not like they've got the top pick in the draft.
If they didn't have a lot of money under cap, I could see letting Dawkins walk and being conservative about who to sign, but that isn't the case.
There's not a lot on the market and they've got piles and piles of money just sitting around.
Do they let people into the Hall of Fame for Salary Cap Championships?
