No Way Owens Comes Back Here

For you Eagles fans who are taking the next step after the Cowboys released Owens, let me answer the question I know you're asking.  No, it will never happen.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie had made it a point during an interview at training camp a few years ago to say that he had regretted that the team had ever brought Owens to Philadelphia.

He went ever further by saying that despite the trip to the Super Bowl, he still wishes they hadn’t ever signed Owens.

Let me tell you that again.  Lurie said despite going to the Super Bowl, he wishes the team had never brought Owens to Philadelphia.

There are quite a few teams which I think could use his services and will try to acquire him.

Leading the pack is the Oakland Raiders.  They have very little talent at the wide receiver position and owner Al Davis is known for his willingness to take players who have worn out their welcome with the rest of the league.

Davis has always reveled in the fact that his team was a compilation of castoffs.

Owens would fit that role, plus the Raiders have a young, talented quarterback in JaMarcus Russell, who has nobody to throw the football to.

The Giants are in need of a marque receiver with Plaxico Burress' future uncertain, but I don't know that they would be willing to bring someone like Owens onto their football team.  As you know Owens is considered a cancer when it comes to team chemistry.

The Seattle Seahawks recently acquired T.J. Houshmandzadeh but they could use more talent at the wide receiver postion.

The Minnesota Vikings were trying to sign Houshmandzadeh, so you know they need wide receiver help, but Brad Childress had a run in with Owens while he was the offensive coordinator of the Eagles.

He would probably rather lose all their games than sign Owens.
