The poor workout yesterday of Alabama offensive tackle Andre Smith is sure to affect the first round of this year's draft. Many believe that Smith has dropped out of the top ten.
The big dominant offensive tackle for the Crimson Tide was supposed to be a sure-fire top ten pick but he started falling during the week of the combine and he's dropping even faster after a poor Pro Day workout yesterday.
The Eagles may benefit from Smith's poor workout because it may have the effect of dropping the fourth and fifth offensive tackles lower in the first round, which might give the Eagles a chance to move up and get one of the top four.
I doubt that the Eagles would be willing to take a chance on Smith who seems to be lacking the focus to warrant tens of millions of dollars.
Reports say that Smith ran without his shirt and looked like a moving bowl of jello. They say he didn't look good while running 5.2's in the forty. The key wasn't the forty time it was the fact that his first ten yards were slow which says his explosion off the ball might be lacking.
He was able to lift 225 pounds only 19 times which says something about his strength and even more about his lack of commitment.
Smith had already come up missing at the NFL combine in Indy about a month ago, so he already had a major question mark by his name. With this performance he's trying to fall out of the first round.
Within the last month, this young man has lost over $10 million dollars in signing bouses.
