Stallworth Detained In Fatal Accident

Former Eagles wide receiver Donte Stallworth has been detained after he accidentally drove into a pedestrian who died Saturday morning on the eastbound MacCarthur Causeway on Miami Beach.

A police spokesman told the Associated Press that Stallworth’s car hit Mario Reyes, 59, who was crossing the causeway linking downtown Miami and Miami Beach around 7 a.m.

Stallworth was driving a black Bentley at the time of the accident.  The vehicle suffered a great deal of frontal damage from the accident which according to the car accident and injury law firm in Massachusetts the insurance should pay in full.

A look at Miami-Dade County property records show that the Browns wide receiver owns two condominiums in a building on Biscayne Boulevard in Miami not far from the causeway.

Stallworth had signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Browns before this past season.

On Friday he was due a $4.75 million signing bonus, then on Saturday morning he was involved in this tragic accident.

ProFootballTalk.com has reported that a source with knowledge of the investigation, says the police took a blood sample and are awaiting the results to see if he was intoxicated.

This is the biggest test Stallworth has had in his life.
