The New York Giants started their off season team workouts yesterday without star wide receiver Plaxico Burress. The Giants know a judge will have a lot to say about their 2009 season in two weeks.
Burress' trial for felony gun possession will start in two weeks on March 31st. If Burress winds up getting probation without jailtime or a small amount jailtime so that it won't interfere with their upcoming season.
"I don't have anything further to add to where we are," coach Tom Coughlin said when asked about Burress. "You all know the legal process is forthcoming, and pretty much, that's where we are. I don't have anything new to report."
Coughlin refused to speculate on Burress' future.
"I wouldn't even go into that," he said. "As I always say, that kind of speculation is fruitless. I don't see any benefit in that."
