Eagles Fans Have Passion

Even in the off-season I hear people criticizing Eagles' fans for being too tough on the Eagles' franchise.

I hear phrases like be thankful you aren't in Detroit or you should feel lucky to have a coach and FO that has delivered consistent success for an entire decade. To those people I say, did I miss the Eagles parade down Broad Street?

Last I checked the Eagles are still without a title since 1960. Last I checked the goal remains to win the Lombardi, not simply to make the playoffs or NFC Championship games.

When the Eagles fall short of this championship goal there is going to be some negativity mixed in with the cheers. This is true in every city where sports are played, not just Philadelphia.

The team is still greeted by standing ovations at the Linc.  The season ticket waiting list is still rumored to be some 60,000 deep.  The accomplishments of the team are praised throughout the city on radio, TV, and sites like this.  We fans realize that we have been spoiled more than most franchises of late with deep playoff runs.

But when the team continues to fall short of bringing a title to this football crazed city there is going to be some anger, some negativity directed at the players, coaches, and Front Office. It's deserved because every season since 1960 has ended in disappointment.

It's not until the phrase World (insert Chase Utley comment) Super Bowl Champions is reality that people can honestly claim that the criticism of the Eagles is not deserved.

Until then, the team, the media, and a large collection of knuckleheads should realize how grateful every Eagles' player is to be here.
