Coffman Has Edge On Eagles Board

According to Scout.com Missouri TE Chase Coffman visited the Eagles this past week . I played against his dad, Paul Coffman who was a TE for the Green Bay Packers.   Do you think Andy Reid knows his father?

You know Reid knows his dad because the Green Bay Packers are a tight family.  Coffman has been coming back to the Packers reunions for years and you know that he and Reid are at least casual buddies.

You also know that the two have talked about his son.

First of all his dad was a no nonsense, old school football players who was a tough as nails.

Coffman was adept at all the subtleties of the tight end position.  He knew how to use his hands on his release.

He had very good hands when it came to catching the football and was adept at setting down in the seams of zones and pushing off against man-to-man coverage.  Need I say that the father knew how to hold.

You can beleive the father taught his son everything he knows.  This connection gives this kid a tremendous edge on the Eagles draft board.

Reid knows that this kld is mentally ready to play tight end in the NFL right now.  He had four big years at Missouri.

This kid is the kind of tight end that the Eagles need.  He's big and tough.

He's going to have to do more blocking on this level than he did at Mizzou but Scout.com had this to say about Coffman.  "Coffman is a great all-around tight end who has the complete package."

He can also catch the football and do that very well.  Coffman caught  90 passes for 987 yards with 10 touchdown catches.

He won the John Mackey Award as the nation's top tight end.

The dude is bigger 6'6" 250 than his father and about the same speed 4.78 in the forty.

This young man is not the pure athlete that some of the other tight ends are but he knows how to read coverages and he knows how to run routes.  You can believe that Reid has this kid circled.

Coffman has a foot injury which has stopped him from performing at the combine or on his Pro Day.  He had an ankle injury last year which slowed him up as well.

He'll likley be there in the second and third rounds.
