AzCardinals.com reports that Cards are listening to trade offers for Pro Bowl wide receiver Anquan Boldin. The veteran receiver has been unhappy for a couple of years because he wants a new contract.
Boldin has made it clear all off season that he isn't happy with his deal. Larry Fitzgerald got a huge bump up in pay last year with a contract worth $10 million a year.
Thus far the Cardinals have refused to give Boldin a new deal despite their starting quarterback Kurt Warner begging them to give him a new contract. Warner had even promised to give up part of his pay in order to help the Cardinals keep Boldin on the roster.
- “Before the draft, you know there is going to talk about Anquan and his situation and a trade,” Whisenhunt said. “Since not a whole lot has changed with his contractual situation, we know that will come back up.
- “It would be foolish from our standpoint not to listen to those opportunities and see what actually exists. But I want to make the point … our goal is to re-sign him to a long-term deal. That hasn’t changed.”
- Said general manager Rod Graves, “We just think it is prudent for us to evaluate all our options.”
- The Cardinals have already talked some with other teams, although Graves declined to say which ones.
The question now is what will the Eagles do. Will they step up to the plate or will they play games and not get the deal done? The city is watching, McNabb is watching and the entire NFL is watching.
The Eagles, Giants and the Bears are considered to be the three teams who are looking for big time wide receiver talent.
