ProFootballTalk.com talked to somebody who says the Eagles took the Bills to the cleaners in this trade of Jason Peters. I agree with them and have talked to a number of NFL people who thought it was a foolish move by the Bills.
“Buffalo gave Peters away,” the source said. “[Bills COO Russ] Brandon should be fired on the spot. He has no clue as to what value means. Philly made the best deal in the last 10 years of the NFL."
How can you trade a left offensive tackle who is only 27 years old and has been to the Pro Bowl twice for the 28th pick in the first round a fourth round pick and a sixth round pick next year?
First of all, you can't even get one of the top left tackles in the draft with those picks much less a proven Pro Bowler. Add to that the fact that there's no guarantee that any of this year's left tackles will ever make the Pro Bowl.
Draft picks are overrated. I'll take a proven Pro Bowl player over a draft pick any day of the week. You know the chances of each of those 32 picks in the draft making the Pro Bowl are slim at best.
We should talk to those suckers in Buffalo about what they want for Lee Evans.
