Eagles Trade For CB Hobbs

The Eagles have acquired CB Ellis Hobbs from New England for a couple of 5th round picks.

This signing might be a reaction to Sheldon Brown's unhappiness, as well as replacement for KO returner Quintin Demps.

Hobbs isn't one of the league's elite cornerbacks but he's a good solid football player who gives the Birds depth at that position.

He was surprised to be traded but it was a case in New England of having too many players at one position.

“Personally, I think it’s shocking because you’ve been playing so many years for an organization,” Hobbs said. “Had some success and doing your thing, but on the other side it’s a business. I had been telling my family members for a while; I just had a feeling. Then you kind of feel things out, you see how the organization is making moves throughout the offseason. You figure that something is going to shake, you just never know when, but when I got the call no bad blood, no hard feelings. It is what it is and I’m excited to be playing for the Eagles now.”

The Birds have acquired a player who has played in a lot of big games, including the Super Bowl.

Hobbs has returned kickoffs and taken it the distance.  He has big time speed and good toughness.
