According to Philly.com, Brett Mandel a candidate for Philadelphia Controller has a bullseye on the Eagles' back.
Mandel promises to do everything within his power to get that $8 million from the Birds. He is also threatening to cutoff the "required operation and maintenance payments to the team" which the city makes until the team antes up the $8 million dollars.
He had a news conference in front of Lincoln Financial Field today as a protest of the Eagles failure to pay off the debt
There's no doubt that Mandel is using this situation as a campaign tactic but you can believe the Eagles don't find it humorous.
The current Philadelphia Controller Alan Butkovitz didn't take Mandel's threat seriously.
“This is a naïve recommendation,” Butkovitz said. “I’ve publically called on the Eagles to pay the $8 million, but I cannot act illegally to stop payments I disagree with…if this were doable, you can be sure Mayor Nutter or Mayor Street would have done it already.”
