Brown’s Best Argument Against Eagles

Sheldon Brown has one excellent argument against the Eagles cap management policies.

A trend has developed where players fall into disfavor with the organization if they turn down one of the Eagles long contract offer.

If the Eagles try to start Ellis Hobbs ahead of Brown, he's got an argument because Hobbs isn't as good of a corner as Sheldon.

There is nothing wrong with the Eagles offering a player a contract, then if that player refuses to sign the deal, they go in a different direction in the next season.

I emphasize, in the next season.  There is no way a player loses his abilities just because he turns down a contract offer.

Sitting players down a week after they turn down a proposal means they're not always putting their best players on the field.

Remember how safety Michael Lewis lost his job to Sean Considine after he turned down an offer.  Omar Gaither lost his job to Akeem Jordan after turning down an offer.

The Eagles may be intimidating their players into signing these ridiculously long contracts early their careers.

I don't know if Sheldon can prove it but that would be his best argument.
