Knew Teams Who Wanted To Move Up

Andy Reid said they knew the teams which were trying to move ahead of them to get either Jeremy Maclin or Percy Harvin.

According to Reid, they knew which teams were in the hunt for Maclin and Harvin by the teams that put those players through personal workouts.

Of course he talked about being thrilled he was able to grab both of these young speedsters Maclin and running back LeSean McCoy.

In the second round, Reid and Tom Heckert knew they were taking a chance by staying at the 53rd spot and hoping McCoy would fall to them.  They had done their homework and knew there was a chance he might be there.

He talked to Donovan McNabb about the draft and says McNabb liked the players they selected.

Big Red said McNabb is into the draft and has become familiar with these young players by checking out the television scouting reports.

McNabb wanted to know some of the details of the strengths and weaknesses of Maclin and McCoy.

Reid said they traded down in the third round because they were trying to get picks for next year.  He almost admitted that they liked and missed out on Southern Mississippi tight end Jared Cook.

I think the Eagles wanted Cook but traded down one time too many and lost Cook.

Of course Reid said they wanted the Florida tight end all along.
