Talking To Media Isn’t Leadership

Donovan McNabb didn't talk yesterday and wisely so.  That has nothing at all to do with leadership.

If he had spoken that would be all you would be reading about.  His every word would be getting picked apart by the local sports media.

Nearly everybody in the local media and the fan base say he's got some explaining to do.   They want to know about his contract and future with the team.

How does he feel about the new additions?

The story by Michael Smith of ESPN about him not wanting a new contract unless the team adds more weapons, had no quotes in there from McNabb.  Why does he have to respond to every story that occurs about him?

In reality most of the media are going to take shots at him if he doesn't give them what they want which is a story.   I don't think the local media has much credibility any more concerning McNabb.

His not talking to the media has nothing at all to do with leadership.  it's just a matter of being able to write, talk and criticize whatever he says and does.

I can see the media having a problem with him not talking but for it to already be a leadership problem this early is a joke.

Brian Westbrook didn't talk but his leadership wasn't questioned.  Westbrook had a surgery on his knee but he didn't answer questions about it.

I don't think his not talking says anything about his leadership.  He could talk and talk and talk and there's still going to be constant criticism.

He didn't talk so they criticize the fact that he didn't talk.  If he had talked they would be criticizing what he said.

I liked what I saw of McNabb and his teammates yesterday.  He and his receiving corps are gelling already and it's very early.

DeSean Jackson is going to have a big year.   He looks good.

Cornelius Ingram is going to be a tremendous weapon.  If there's a linebacker who can cover him, I haven't seen him.  LeSean McCoy looks smooth coming out of the backfield with nice soft hands.

Jeremy Maclin has a ways to go in his route running .  He doesn't burst out of his cuts.  He glides too much.  He's got the size and speed but he also has a lot to learn.
