McCoy and Ingram Picking It Up

LeSean McCoy and Cornelius Ingram did a nice job of digesting the Eagles offense this weekend.

The Birds don’t have much luxury when you talk about McCoy and Ingram getting ready to contribute immediately.

McCoy needs to be ready to step in for Brian Westbrook so they don't use him too much and have him injured for later in the season and during the playoffs.

The Birds only have two tight ends and Ingram's athletic ability could take them to another level.

Thankfully both of them seem to be picking everything up relatively quickly.

Tight end Cornelius Ingram couldn’t do much without Andy Reid’s eyes on him.  Reid and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg spent the entire weekend salivating while thinking about getting the ball to Ingram.

The coaching staff was making sure he knew what he was doing and why he was doing it. Many times after a route he would explain explain the route and why he ran it.

Of course Reid is playing it down Ingram’s potential because he knows they can’t get ahead of themselves.

“I thought he showed a lot of athletic ability. I thought he caught the ball consistently. He’s never really gone from a down stance other than in spring football, so it was good to see him do that. Again he looks very athletic and he’s smart enough where he was picking things up. We’ll see when we put the pads on how he does there and what his retention is when he comes back.”

McCoy is a natural coming out of the backfield and picking up the offense.

After the workout he told me that he expected the game to moving even faster than it is.  He caught everything that touched his hands during the camp.
