Former Eagles defensive tackle Sam Rayburn is experiencing a brush with the law out in Oklahoma, where he's facing two drug-related felonies.
He's charged with two counts of obtaining or attempting to obtain a controlled substance by forgery or fraud.
The 28-year old played for the Eagles between 2003 and 2006. It's a shame, he was pretty well liked by Eagles fans as a blue-collar guy who gave you some decent reps as a backup.
But nonetheless, it seems he has a problem. In court papers, prosecutors allege that Rayburn tried to get Percocet (heard of it) and Lortab (never heard of it) through forged prescriptions. Those drugs are addictive painkillers and this tells me that he's got a pretty big problem.
He is free on $2,000 bond and is scheduled to have a June 24th preliminary hearing. I hope the best for him and I hope he gets himself cleaned up.
