The game of football starts with the people upfront so my evaluations of the NFC East teams will start with a close look at the four offensive lines.
1. Giants – Despite the fact that the Eagles may have closed the gap somewhat, I still believe the Giants have the best offensive line in the NFC East.
They might not have the best personnel but they have remarkable chemistry when playing together. They're very adept at making adjustments during a game or during a drive. Their run blocking is second to none in the NFL.
You can tell this group is physically tough by the way they play the game and the fact that they don't miss games.
Center Shaun O'hara is considered the leader of this group both on and off the field. LIke his teammates on the offensive line, he is smart and tough.
The communication amongst their offensive line may be the best in the league. They pick up stunts and love to enforce their will on the opposing defense by wearing them down throughout the 60 minutes of a game.
They're not nealry as good at pass blocking but they're good enough. Eli Manning is not the most athletic quarterback in the league but he rarely gets touched because of their outstanding running game and decent pass blocking.
They finally were represented in the Pro Bowl by guard Chris Snee and center Shaun O'hara. Clearly the strength of this line is inside.
Kareem McKenzie is a solid right tackle but nothing to write home about and the same is true of their left tackle David Diehl. Again, the fact that they run the ball so often and so well, takes some of the pass blocking pressure off of their tackles.
