Before I type this, let's just be clear that everything Peter King says is 100% correct. Also, any time anyone makes lists of power rankings for NFL teams, they should be regarded as bible.
So, that said, Peter King ranked all 32 NFL teams in this week's Monday Morning QB column for CNNSI.com. Where does he have the Eagles? #6:
6. Philadelphia
To me, this is the start of a two-year window for the Eagles. You don't know how much longer Donovan McNabb has at some form of his peak, and if he doesn't get the job done this year or next, the Eagles are sure to look for someone who can lift a talented team over the top. The offense will be younger and more explosive with DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin sure to be used in many three-receiver sets, and maybe even some two-receiver sets. Andy Reid will find a valuable role for LeSean McCoy early, maybe even as the third-down back to give Brian Westbrook a consistent blow. McNabb has the best weaponry, in tandem, that he's ever had on offense. He's got to lift his game to a higher level in big games. I think this team gives him a better chance than the first Terrell Owens team in Philly.
Here are a couple things that I find interesting. First off, he has the Bears ranked #4. Wow, does that sound stupid. I guess I'm not as high on Jay Cutler as other people, but still, #4 in the league seems awfully high.
Second, why does he wonder how long Donovan has left, when he ranks the Colts at #5 and didn't mention the same for Peyton Manning? Manning was drafted a year ahead of McNabb so shouldn't we start to talk about how long Manning can keep doing it? Or is that just a McNabb thing? Must be.
I know these lists are made to be disagreed with and I'm not sure who I would rank at #1, but I don't think it would be the Patriots. Regardless of how Brady's rehab is progressing, it's going to take a minute for him to be comfortable in the pocket with 300-lb linemen diving around his shredded knee.
King has the Giants rated #3 in the league and that I probably agree with. They have two out of three on the road to end the season, but that probably helps them. The less Eli has to play in the Meadowlands late in the season, the better.
And how about Dallas at #9? I guess that's close. They'll have a good team this year, but I can't see them being great. Losing T.O. (regardless of the possible positive effect on the locker room) hurts their on-field talent. Maybe Roy Williams is much better when he's the guy, but we'll have to see. Also, that o-line doesn't seem to be getting much better and when the wheels finally come off that wagon, the Cowboys will be in big trouble.
I didn't venture out of King's top 10 yet, so if you see something else, go ahead and chime in.
