Curtis Injury & Maclin, No Coincidence

Did you notice that L.J. Smith who underwent sports hernia surgery two years ago wasn't able to participate in the Ravens mini camp this past weekend because of an injured groin?

I know you're saying so what.

Well the so what of the matter is that Eagles starting wide receiver Kevin Curtis had the same sports hernia surgery a year ago.  He had more surgery this off season because his groin was bothering him.

The Eagles put out statements as if the surgery Curtis went through was a completion of the sports hernia surgery he had had last year.  They made it sound as if he was going to have this surgery all along.

That's not true.  Why didn't they tell us this last year when he had the first surgery?  Why did he wait to have the surgery rather than have it right after the season?

I learned that Curtis was complaining about pain and discomfort in his groin during and after offseason workouts.  He hopes this surgery takes care of it.

The Eagles tried to make it sound like it was routine but there's no surety that it will do the trick.

They say the drafting of rookie speedster Jeremy Maclin had nothing to do with Curtis' surgery but I think that's too much of a coincidence.

In addition, I have never seen the Eagles pushing rookies the way they were pushing this year's rooks.  They had Maclin taking some reps with the starters in the first mini camp.

DeSean Jackson was interviewed by Ike Reese on WIP last night and he talked about how the coaches were putting a foot in Maclin's butt during the mini camp.

I think the Eagles realize they may be forced to go with Maclin in the upcoming season because Curtis might no be available.
