DMacTells Maclin What He Expects

Eagles first round draft pick Jeremy Maclin appeared on ESPN's Sportscenter on Friday morning and he talked about what Donovan McNabb told him.

Here's what Maclin told the ESPN audience.

"He basically sat down and told me that they're not gonna waste a first-round draft pick for a guy to come in and sit on the bench so obviously he wants me to get out there and contribute right away," Maclin said. "He says get in that playbook and just make plays when the ball comes my way and everything else will take care of itself."

Remember Maclin had the highest score, 25, on the Wonderlick test of all the wide receivers coming out in the draft.  This was one of the factors which motivated Andy Reid to move up and select him.

Reid believes he can be a contributor in his first season.  It won't be an easy job but I think it's doable.

I think he job is much easier than DeSean Jackson's was last year.  Jackson became a starter and the number one receiver.

Maclin will just need to be a contributor and take advantage of one on one matchups. He won't be expected to be the leading receiver.

I expect Reid to start out by merely designing plays which will give McNabb a chance to get him the ball in open space thereby giving him a chance to make a big play.
