Hobbs’ Trade No Connection To Brown?

Why do the Eagles bother trying to get everybody to think that they are choir boys?  As far as I'm concerned, they don't have to be choir boys.

For instance the report that the Eagles offerred the Cardinals Sheldon Brown and a third round pick sheds light on the fact that the reason they traded for Ellis Hobbs was because of the uncertainty regarding Brown.

Andy Reid said that the trade for Hobbs had nothing to do with Brown's public statements about wanting a new contract.  That's hard to believe after the revelation that they were trying to trade Sheldon.

The fact that they have Hobbs, a veteran cornerback still in the prime of his career, destroys most of the leverage Brown has against the team.  Yes, Brown is better than Hobbs but it seems that the Eagles would be willing to live with the former Patriots corner starting at the right cornerback spot.

They wouldn't be able to trade Brown if they didn't have Hobbs.  Why do they bother denying the fact that acquiring Hobbs is tied to Brown's contract demands?

I don't begrudge them for making a sound business decision.

I think at times the Eagles overdo trying to coverup things that they don't need to cover up.

Why deny the obvious?

Just find a way to win.
