Former Eagles player personnel director, Michael Lombardi makes a good point about the Eagles still being in need of a run blocking tight end.
He wrote the following on NationalFootballPost.com:
"Well, the Bills are not the only team that could benefit from adding this kind of player to their roster. The Eagles, for example, would really make an impact if they had Graham. He would allow Brent Celek to be the tight end to make plays in the passing game and would also give them a strong side run game.
Graham, not Tony Scheffler, would make a huge difference for the Eagles. Scheffler is similar to the other tight ends currently on the Eagles’ roster. Denver drafted Richard Quinn, whose forte is blocking, at the bottom of the second round. Because he’s a second rounder, Quinn is certain to make the team, so trading Graham is plausible for the Broncos."
I've been at appearances with Eagles starting tight end Brent Celek a few times over the last few weeks and he's told me how he's working on his blocking. I don't doubt that he can improve it but I'm not sure how much he will improve it.
Will rookie Cornelius Ingram be able to block well enough to clear the way for Brian Westbrook on short yardage and goalline situations? Can he move the Cowboys DeMarcus Ware off the line on a run play? What about trying to block Justin Tuck on a sweep?
I don't know if the kid is ready for that?
That's why having a big physical veteran who could block linebackers and defensive ends makes sense to me. They could work out a deal by trading a players for Graham.
You know money isn't a problem.
