McCoy Says His Head Was Swimming

I could see numerous times today when LeSean McCoy's head was swimming with all the information that was being pumped into it.

Andy and Marty put in a lot for the youngsters this morning.  McCoy said some of it was what they did before but they added quite a few new things.

On every down it was like "Where's Waldo" because there was no idea where McCoy was lining up at.

Afterwards he was smiling and talking about deciphering all the information, making mistakes and being corrected by the coaches.

He says he's picking up quickly and I believe him because it seems the quicker he picks it up the quicker they're putting things in.  They would normally take a while to get into all of the running back shifting outside formations.

I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere in the Eagles coaches offices, there's a paper with the plan for "Getting Our Rookies Ready To Play Now".

McCoy never had to shift from his running back spot to outside at wide receiver position at Pittsburgh, but the Eagles had him doing it today.  He had to know whether he was going to be on the line of scrimmage or off of it.

In addition, he had to get there quickly and get set up, so the QB could resume his snapcount. Hesitating could result in a delay of game call later in the season.

Like many other teams around the league, each receiver has to know every route in every pass play because the coaches move the players around in order to get the match-ups they want.  Joe Gibbs of the Redskins was the first coach to do that.

McCoy was tentative in some of the routes when he wasn't totally sure of his assignments.  when he was sure you could see some of playmaking ability showing through.

They handed the ball to him on quite a few draws. They ran a number of running plays out of the I formtion,
