I knew it was a matter of time until he said it publicly but T. O. has communicated on Twitter to a fan that he blames his departure from Dallas on QB Tony Romo and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.
Although a great "Hall Of Fame" player this is another situation which demonstrates Owens' insecurity. He always thinks his quarterback is his enemy.
Even though the quarterbacks he has played with have helped him achieve the statistics to go into the Hall Of Fame. Rather than thank these guys he goes after them with a passion that's unusual.
He needs to get some counseling because that same insecurity will rear it's head in Buffalo. I expect Owens to continue to perform well for another year or two until "Father Time" catches up with him.
I regret that Owens along with help from our local media helped turned quite a few fans in the city against Donovan McNabb. Many in the sports media blamed McNabb for Owens shortcomings and it's damaged his image.
Amazingly the other quarterbacks weren't blamed for Owens' issues. The sportswriters have sided with Jeff Garcia and Tony Romo against Owens but when T.O. was here in Philly, they sided with him against McNabb.
I read and heard that this proved McNabb wasn't a leader. I didn't read any of this when Chad Johnson was acting out in Cincinnati.
I can't say I know the reason for it, but I don't agree with it. I know getting on McNabb gets ratings and it gets people to read articles in the paper. If you don't know now, people will do anything for money.
I can't look inside of people and see why they insist on this double standard.
I do understand some of T.O.'s problems. He was raised in Alabama by his mom and grandmom. As a young teen he developed a little crush on the girl across the street.
One day the girl's father approached him and told him that he couldn't be the girl's boyfriend.
Owens didn't understand.
The man told him that he couldn't be the girl's boyfriend because she was his sister.
You see the man telling him this was Owens' father. He had had a short-termed fling with T.O.'s mom, but it was shoved under the rug because the man was already married with a family.
As you sit back and think about Owens' experience as a teenager of finding out the man who lived across the street from him for years was his father but never acknowledged it.
You might be able to understand why T.O. is so insecure.
