Eagles new assistant coach Brian Stewart is probably back where he belongs as a secondary coach.
Last season things went south for the Cowboys defense and the team for that matter down the stretch. It was then that Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips snatched the play calling responsibilities from Stewart.
He really hadn't done a bad job the year before calling the defenses. The Cowboys defense was ranked amongst the best in the league. This is another case of the NFL's Janet Jackson policy.
"What have you done for me lately".
Rumors circulated that Jerry Jones pulled the cord on Stewart's calling the defenses during the games, a year ago.
Remember again the year before that he had been defensive coordinator of a group that sent five players to the Pro Bowl. That's amazing because that's nearly half of the starters.
His area of expertise is in the secondary and you know that is a priority with Andy Reid. Big Red believes in addressing the passing game first whether they're on offense or defense.
“Brian Stewart brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our football club,” said Reid. “He especially has a good understanding of the NFC East acquired during his time with the Cowboys. He’ll be a nice addition to our coaching staff.”
