Somebody tell Osi Umenyiora that Winston Justice won't be blocking him this season when the Giants and the Eagles meet. Jason Peters was brought here to block Osi.
I guarantee you that Andy Reid was thinking about that ominous night when Osi had six sacks against Justice, when the Eagles worked out the deal to bring Peters to town.
The only time Umenyiora is going to see Justice this year is if he buys some insurance from him because I think Winston will be selling insurance by August. I don't see him making this team.
I would love to hear Peters say something like, "Which knee did Osi hurt last year", then smile. Guys like Osi who are speed rushers get frightened when somebody goes after their legs which are their "money makers".
Umenyiora was thinking about that night against Justice, when he was running his mouth to the media at the Giants OTA's up at the Meadowlands. The Pro Bowl New York defensive end is already taking shots at the Eagles.
"They should. I do — and I wasn't on the football field," he said. "I was on the field, but I wasn't playing and I saw the way it ended. It was a team we should have beat and it was a team that, if the opportunity arises again, we will beat."
The season will revolve around what the Eagles do against the Giants and they proved two times in a row that they can beat New York. You know how some teams have another team's number. Well the Eagles have the Giants number.
If Osi and the New York defensive line can't get to Donovan McNabb, they don't have a chance.
Secondly, if Eli Manning can't slice up a Philadelphia secondary with one of the safeties in the box to stop the run, then the Giants don't have a chance. You know he remembers the mistakes he made in the two losses a year ago.
They've got all their eggs in rookie Hakeem Nicks' bag.
