ComcastSportsnet is reporting that Brian Westbrook will be out of action until the regular season starts.

Andy Reid told us yesterday that Westbrook was seeing a doctor about a ankle problem. It smeeled. They hadn't told anybody before the camp that Westbrook was injured.
The fact that he was seeing a specialist meant it wasn't a simple ankle sprain.
Now the report is that he has a high ankle sprain and will be out of action until the season starts makes me more suspicious.
All I can say is why didn't they hang onto Correll Buckhalter for the chump change that he got from the Broncos. If we had Buck we knew what he could do.
LeSean McCoy is in the process of getting himself ready to play. He's not ready to step in there right now. The young man has so much to learn before they can put him out there.

There's no doubt that the lack of depth is a concern but of course there are a bevy of veteran running backs on the market who could come in here and give the Birds some insurance.
I expect the Birds to utilize Leonard Weaver at halfback to give the Birds more depth there. He can do the blocking, recieving and rushing. He knows the system because he played in a similar system while in Seattle.
What this says to me is that Westbrook's body is breaking down.
