The Eagles finished another workout moments ago. We don't have to ask the question whether Andy Reid is going to get more inovolved in the defensive side of the ball.
We already know the answer to that question. He's going to be more involved.
It's early but Reid is making a point to be conversing with and coaching the defensive players during the defensive team periods. Reid used to stand off to the side and have virtually nothing to say when the first team defense went to work in practice.
Eagles interim defensive coordinator Sean McDermott stands deep in the secondary behind the safeties. Jim Johnson used to stand behind the offense during the defensive periods of practice.
Reid stands in the position now. McDermott coaches players after each play and stands in and around the defensive huddle.
It's understandable that Reid would be more involved since he had all the confidence in the world Johnson. As I see it, McDermott is going to have to earn Reid's confidence and trust.
It'll be very interesting to see if Reid has a big part in the defensive game plan. You can believe that he'll be looking intensely over McDermott's shoulder as he prepares the game plan for each team.
