I was driving down Route 73 in South Jersey the other day and I came to stop light and looked up to see Eagles right tackle Shawn Andrews. All I could do was wonder what his mind was on.
How stable is he now? Could something cause him to change his mindset?
The Birds don't need any nonsense out of this guy. They need Pro Bowl level play out of him and they need him to be consistent from the start to the finish.
As far the Eagles are concerned, Andy Reid and his crew seem to be very confident that he will offer no problems.
They must know something I don't. What would stop him from waking up one morning and deciding that the pressure and competition of NFL football is too much for him?
I hear him talking to reporters at his locker and at times he starts emphasizing the reasons football is so hard on the body. You rarely hear other players talk about that, because it's not on their minds. It's obviously on Andrews' mind.
Will his brother Stacy and former roommate Jason Peters be able to keep him on the straight and narrow.
If he keeps his head right I don't have much doubt that he can be an achor at the right tackle position.
Maybe the Birds are going to sign Jon Runyan as insurance. I know he's getting very close to starting to run, so they could bring him in and work him out.
Runyan who lives in South Jersey would probably accept a substantial paycut to play for the Birds. He wouldn't have move and be away from his family if he played here.
It's something to watch.
