Reid Going Fishing With Childress

TwinCities.com which covers the Minnesota Vikings reports that Andy Reid will be heading to Alaska with his good friend, Vikings head coach Brad Childress.

The Vikings coach and Reid will be going on a fishing trip to go to the country's biggests state in terms of land.  Of course you're aware that Childress served as Reid's offensive coordinator before getting the head job in Minnesota.

They're very close.

I wonder if they will be talking football when they get out their on the lakes.  I do know they talk a few times a week but of course Reid doesn't share what those conversations are about.

One of them believes in the passing game (Reid), and one believes in the running game (Childress).  It would be nice if Childress convinced Reid to start believing in the running game, as well.

You know they've talked about Brett Favre.  Who would know Favre better than Reid who was one of his quarterback coaches?

I would guess that Reid has been a big proponent of Favre's to Childress, even though in the long run it could hurt the Eagles because it makes the Vikings a better football team.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles face the Vikings again in the playoffs, because Minnesota has a Super Bowl team minus the quarterback.  They don't need a great quarterback because they already have a great front four and a great running game.

The Vikings are in need of a decent quarterback to complete 12 to 15 passes a game and stay away from interceptions.

The truth of the matter is that Reid has also probably talked to Favre.  He probably knows more about when Favre is going to report to camp than anybody else.

Back to the fishing trip, they will probably talk about their kids.  Reid still has a son in jail for some narcotics violations, while Childress has a daughter who will be getting married in early July.   Who knows maybe the big fella will go to the wedding?

I've always said that fans would be shocked to know how much the coaches talk to each other.   The coaching fraternity is a close knit unit and they confide in each other as well protecting each other's back.

Childress is expected to announce the signing of Favre at some point between the time he returns from the fishing trip and before their training camp begins.

Andy probably knows that also.

Checkout this picture of Andy smiling before a game as he talks to his buddy.  How many times have you seen Andy smile before a game?  This was a playoff a game at that.
