Williams Decides To Lift Weights

Sports Illustrated's Peter King says Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams is lifting weights for the first time in his football career.

Can you imagine that?

For years, this guy has been a professional making millions of dollars but is just now deciding to lift weights.  Word is that he's really serious now about wanting to be the best player he can be.

We don't need to ask any other questions about why the Lions have been so bad under the leadership of Matt Millen.  They've got players who don't even bother lifting weights.

I think Michael Irvin hit it on the head when he said that catching ball for a winless Detroit Lions team is much easier than catching passes for a team that is in the spotlight and expected to be in playoff contention.

Williams had better do more than lift weights.  He had better get ready to play well.

I think the Cowboys are headed for problems.  All their receivers are going to get more attention from the opposing defense because defenses don't have to worry about dealing with Owens.

I don't think Williams is the answer for replacing Owens.

Jason Witten and Tony Romo are going to be the big losers with Owens gone.  Yes they won't have to be bothered with his constant complaints but he won't be there drawing and beating double team coverages.

Teams had to take away Owens first before doing anything else against that offense.  Now they'll be able to change it up because Williams isn't as good as T.O..

It's going to put more pressure on Romo to read the defenses he's facing and Witten will be facing more double-teams.  Romo won't be able to go to him any time he wants to do so.

I see Romo dropping back and finding nobody open, then making some big mistakes.
