The biggest draft day mistake the Eagles made in the time that Andy Reid has been the head coach was the selection of Freddie Mitchell rather than Reggie Wayne in the draft.
If Reid and the scouting department had selected Wayne, who was picked five picks after Mitchell, we would probably have a Super Bowl trophy or two already sitting at the Nova Care Complex.

You've got to have that type of top talent if you're going to try to win a championship throwing the ball. I thought the Eagles should have bit the bullet and paid for a top level receiver if you're going to pay McNabb.
The key to having a top wide receiver group is finding a number one wide receiver. Wayne would have satisfied that need for a decade if the Birds had selected him.
Mitchell wasn't even a number two wide out. He was a decent number three, but he had no speed.
The Eagles have had one true number one here during all these years and it was Terrell Owens in 2004.
If you put a true number one like Owens or Wayne in the mix, it makes all of the other receivers better.
Were Wayne drafted in 2001, Terrell Owens may have never come our way but guys like Reggie Brown, Jason Avant and Hank Baskett would have fit in fine.
Like was the case with Owens, all the defenses would have been trying to stop Wayne and that would have allowed the lesser receivers to flourish.
I think DeSean Jackson is well on his way to growing into a number one wide out.
