Brian Mitchell says he was fired for telling the truth. Plaxico Burress and Michael Vick might be spectators in 2009. Dennis Green says Parcells will get Vick.
Former Redskins, Giants and Eagles return man Brian Mitchell says he was fired from his radio job in Washington D.C. because he was too critical of the Redskins.
I remember him having a battle with Skins star running back Clinton Portis. it was a running feud between the two as Mitchell called Portis out for being selfish.
He was also constantly criticized owner Daniel Snyder and the way he has been running the organization.
The former return man says he was giving the people what they want, ""When people turn on the radio, they want to hear what they truly see. Not what the company line is."
A station spokesperson said the bleak economy was the reason for the firing. Mitchell disagreed.
"If you never discuss any money, or any changes in my money with me, then you already have your minds made up. This didn't have a damn thing to do with the economy," Mitchell said.
Mitchell has been doing some work here in Philadelphia for 610-WIP. He co-hosted an afternoon show with Howard Eskin as well as taking over for Eskin when he was on vacation.
On to another subject, it doesn't look like Sheldon Brown and the Eagles are going to have to worry about Plaxico Burress for at least another year.
Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports says there's a good chance that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will extend the suspensions of Plaxico Burress and Micheal Vick throughout the entire 2009 season.
First he cites Goodell's treatment of Donte Stallworth, then he points at three sources close to the commissioner.
Concerning Vick Cole writes, “[Vick] is not just walking out one day and playing again,” the source close to Vick said. “I don’t know if he understands that yet, but that’s what it looks like right now if you really pay attention. … Yeah, he served his time, but he has to prove himself. When the commissioner talks about wanting to see remorse, he’s not kidding.”
Concerning Burress he goes on to say," His refusal to accept jail time as part of a plea bargain in the case that resulted in a self-inflicted gun wound and could be punishable by as much as 3½ years has irritated Goodell and others within the NFL, according to the league source."
I guess these guys need to start looking for work elsewhere.
Former NFL head coach Dennis Green believes that Bill Parcells and the Dolphins will wind up signing Michael Vick. He said this in an interview on Sirius Satellite radio.
“Simply because he has that creativeness that says that no matter what it takes, he’s going to find a way to get Michael Vick.
Green said he didn't know how this would happen but he says it will happen, "Now, whether it means convincing the commissioner or whatever it takes, Michael Vick is probably going to wind up at Miami because of the fact that Bill Parcells is Bill Parcells."
