Elite NBA Teams Getting Serious

I have never seen so many major moves being made by the NBA's elite teams at the same time.  Are you kidding me?

These guys are getting serious about winning the next league championship.

Let's go through the list of moves that are going to make next year's NBA playoffs off the charts.

Shaquille Oneal is traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Cleveland Cavaliers to play with last year's MVP LeBron James.  Shaq has a new motto now, it's "Win a ring a for the King".

The Cavs will still have their work cut out of them with Shaq and LeBron on board.  They've got to get some outside shooters who will make teams pay when they try to double team their superstars.

Richard Jefferson is traded from the New Jersey Nets to the San Antonio Spurs to play with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Genobli.

If Genobli can stay healthy, this is going to be a very tough team to beat.  They would have four legitimate scorers if everybody is able to go.

Ron Artest is getting ready to sign with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. Artest and Bryant had been bitter rivals for years but now they're on the same side.

Artest will make the Lakers tougher and even better on the defensive side than the forward they're losing Trevor Ariza.

The Orlando Magic who lost in the NBA Finals have added Vince Carter to their squad but they'll be losing Hedo Turkoglu. They will be more athletic with Carter but I don't know that they're measurably better with Carter than Turkoglu.

Boston Celtic superstars Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen got on a plane and flew to Detroit this week in order to try and talk free agent forward Rasheed Wallace to sign a contract with the Celtics.

He hasn't made his mind up yet.

There would be no question that the Celtics would be the best defensive team in the league with Wallace.

Think about Eastern Conference teams like the Celtics, Magic and Cavaliers battling for a trip to the NBA Finals next year.

Out west it's clear that the Lakers and the Spurs are the top of the class.  Their battle in the Western Conference Finals will be epic.

As for the Sixers, they will try to make the playoffs then get swept for making them.
