I was just messing around on Twitter and saw that Newsday's Bob Glauber listed his top five running backs in the NFL.
Glauber, who I have a ton of respect for, listed them like this:
"Top 5 RBs in the NFL: 1. Adrian Peterson. 2. Michael Turner. 3. DeAngelo Williams. 4. Chris Johnson. 5. Brian Westbrook."
I'm not sure I agree with this list, but lists are made to be argued with. Get three people to agree on who the best five guitarists in rock history are. Yeah, exactly.
I think everyone can agree that All Day is #1. But I'm not even sure who would be my #2-#5. It's very difficult right now to choose. DeAngelo Williams had 1,500+ yards and scored 20 TD's last year. That's insane. But, #3 might be a little high. Burner had a great year last year too, but I think I have Chris Johnson (developing knucklehead that he is) ahead of him.
And I think I have to get Stephen Jackson in there and drop Brian Westbrook until we see where he is physically (ditto LT). Don't you love how instead of just thinking of this stuff and then giving you my top five, I actually let you see the mangled mess that is my thought process? Thought you'd appreciate that.
I also want to keep an eye on Kevin Smith in Detroit (tough to judge a RB when his team is god awful…..any player for that matter) and Matt Forte in Chicago. They could end up on this list in not much time.
And Frank Gore should be involved here too, quite possibly. So many decisions.
Ok, so I think these are my top five, and you could argue me out of anyone from #2-#5 if you wanted to. Very, very tough call right now and the first round of any fantasy football league is going to be very interesting this season. And just to be clear, these aren't my fantasy rankings, this is just who I think are the top five:
1. All Day
2. Chris Johnson
3. Stephen Jackson
4. Maurice Jones-Drew
5. Michael Turner
Honorable mention: Lorenzo Booker, Danny Ware, Chris Perry (if you know where he is please call Cincinnati's local CrimeStopper's line)
Who are your top five?
