Answering the prayers of many Phillies fans, the club has decided to designate left-handed reliever Jack Taschner for assignment.
He can be claimed off of waivers, released, traded or optioned to the minors if he clears waivers in the next 10 days. He had a 5.20 ERA in his time in Philly.
The move has impacted many outside of the baseball world, however. Local drugstore owners have been complaining about today's news because their Pepto Bismol sales were through the roof since April. Although if Ryan Madson continues to show off his talents as he has lately, those sales numbers shouldn't be affected.
The Phillies are actually doing Taschner a favor by giving him a chance to sign on with another big league club, as opposed to just sending him down. They won't say this, but the Phils are probably hoping that a division rival picks him up.
