Arizona Workout Week Begins

Today marks the start of Arizona week for Donovan McNabb and the Eagles receivers that made the trip.  From what I understand, nearly all of them intended to make the trip.

The whole gang will be working out together each morning and afternoon.  Their workouts will consist of a mixture of passing drills.  The wide receivers, running backs and tight ends will be catching passes and running routes.

There will be some defensive backs and linebackers in attendance to compete with them.  Quite a few NFL players live in the Phoenix area and workout with each other.

In the evenings they'll go dinner and spend time together as a group.  It'll be a time of bonding for all the guys, but even more importantly for the rookies, who will be learning the ropes.

They'll get the chance to learn from the vets about how things are done as a Philadelphia Eagles.

For the most part, it'll be time for the rookies to listen but they'll get the chance to ask questions and give their point of view.

The players will discuss certain pass routes and certain plays.  They'll talk on a practical level about what they're trying to achieve on specific plays.  Everybody will get the chance to be on the same page.

Rookies Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy and Cornelius Ingram will be in attendance and McCoy is the one who needs the work the most.

At the end of the OTA's, it seemed that Maclin and Ingram had gotten a strong grip on the west coast offense but McCoy, who had much more information to get a grasp of, had more ground to travel.

Unfortunately, the Eagles players who could help McCoy the most in his preparation for the position, Brian Westbrook, won't be there.  He's rehabilitating his ankle after ankle surgery about a month ago.

McCoy hopes to be playing behind Westbrook when the season starts.
