Ibanez Shouldn’t Play In All-Star Game

Chase Utley and Raul Ibanez will start for the National League All-Stars in the upcoming All-Star game.  It's the first time for Ibanez and the fourth time for Utley.

First baseman Ryan Howard was also added on the National League team by Phillies manager Charlie Manuel, who will be the skipper for the Nationals.

I'm not a big All-Star game fan like I was back in the day as a kid.  I remember when the All-Star game was a big deal.  It's not any more even though it has an effect on the World Series.  The league that wins the game has more home games during the Series.

I know that it might not please Ibanez but I would shut him down for the All-Star game if I were the Phillies.   He's missed a few weeks of games because of a strained groimn and they can't afford him to miss more time after the break.

He could go to the game and be used as a pinch hitter, but I don't think there's any way he should be put out into the outfield.

Really if his groin doesn't feel good, he shouldn't even pinch hit.  Groin injuries can be very troublesome.  It shouldn't be taken lightly.
