Can Lou Williams Be A Good Point?

Lou Williams was on Comcast Sportsnet this morning talking about how he's getting ready to step up his game as the Sixers' point guard, if Andre Miller doesn't come back.  I don't think he can be a good point guard.

Right now it doesn't look like Miller is going to return to Philadelphia.  First round pick Jrue Holliday isn't ready to step in and take over.

Ed Stefanski and the team's front office have given Miller the cold shoulder because they want go with a younger group of players, so that they can build for the future because they know they're not going to win anything right now.

Williams was conducting his yearly basketball camp in a suburb of Atlanta.

He's got talent but he also has a lot to learn about being a point guard.  Throughout his basketball career, Williams has been wired to look for his shot first, then try to distribute the ball to his teammates.

I just don't think you can get a player to start looking for other players first, after spending his entire career looking for his shot first.

I remember the Sixers trying to convert Larry Hughes into a point guard, it didn't work.  It's very hard to rewire players after they've been playing the game for a while.

His ability to knock down three pointers is also questionable.  If he doesn't prove he can hit the outside shot, defenders are going to back off of him and clog up the lanes.
